Gualeguaychú is a city in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina, on the left bank of the Gualeguaychú River (a tributary of the Uruguay River). It is located on the south-west of the province, approximately 190 km (120 miles) north-west of Buenos Aires. It has a population of 76,220. The city hosts an annual Carnival that is regionally well-known and attended by people from many other provinces. It also features hot springs, beach resorts, and a casino.
Well! We decided to take Kylie to Gualeguaychu, because she was meeting friends there for Carnival! It took us four and a half hours to get there (we finally worked out the right way to hold the map!). We didn't have to look far for the hot springs - it was a humid 42 degrees when we stepped out of the car! Chris and I said hastily hellos (to the friends) and good byes (to Kylie), jumped into our air conditioned car and speed back to the milder climate of Buenos Aires (35 degrees!)
Here are a couple of photos of the trip up and back - as you can see...it was flat! We saw a lot of cattle. Black and Herefords, a lot had Brahama influence (probably because of the heat!)
High point! Bridge over the Uruguay River - the road actually goes through Uruguay to get there!
