It is a small country town that has a thriving tourist population! About 30 minutes from Canberra, so they even get people from Canberra driving down for breakfast! We had breakfast at one of 'the' places and discovered some delicious gluten free bread! It is made by a bakery in Canberra that is owned by Robert de Castella a world champion matharon runner! The bakery is called Deeks! There is a whole range of breads, needless to say we now have the website address and will try and order some!
One of the places we visited was the Bungendore WoodWorks - an amazing collection of wood pieces (apparently from people all over Australia) - well worth a visit.
We stayed at the Old Carrington Inn - The Carrington was built as an Inn, by William Winter in 1885, on the North and South Cobb and Co route. It has been restored in its original style. The actual inn is the restaurant and function centre. The accommodation is built (in keeping with the original inn) in separate units behind the inn. The dinner was delicious.
